Responsibilities

In a team environment, under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Generation Support, Deh Cho/Sahtu the plant superintendent is responsible for the day-to day operation/ routine plant maintenance and operations, maintenance of the associated auxiliary equipment, and minor maintenance of the distribution facilities and ensure the safe, efficient and reliable supply of electricity to the community.

  • Working environment is primarily in a diesel generating plant. Work performed requires safety precautions and to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing (hard hat, hearing protection, safety footwear, eye protection, etc.). The incumbent is exposed to risks and extremes in weather conditions and temperature. Job involves isolation and residing in remote areas. Required to work alone and be able to ask for help as required.
  • Will be required to be ON STAND-BY for extended periods of time as the sole resource within a remote community.
  • Working aloft with the use of a ladder is required to complete work. Should not be afraid of heights
