Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lab Technician to join our tissue culture lab team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant biology, laboratory techniques, and a passion for cultivating rare tropical house plants. This role is crucial in supporting our efforts to propagate and preserve unique plant species through advanced tissue culture methods.
Key Responsibilities:
Tissue Culture Techniques: Perform various tissue culture techniques, including sterilization, media preparation, and plant propagation.
Laboratory Maintenance: Ensure a clean and organized lab environment, adhering to safety and cleanliness protocols.
Media Preparation: Prepare and sterilize culture media, growth regulators, and other necessary substances for plant cultivation.
Plant Growth Monitoring: Monitor and maintain growth conditions, including light, temperature, and humidity, to ensure optimal plant development.
-Documentation: Maintain accurate records of experiments, including procedures, results, and observations in a lab notebook and electronic databases.
Research and Development: Assist in the development of new protocols for plant tissue culture, focusing on improving techniques and efficiencies.
-Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to share findings and contribute to ongoing projects.
Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure the health and viability of plant cultures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology, Horticulture, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Experience in tissue culture techniques, preferably in a laboratory setting.
- Strong understanding of plant physiology and microbiological techniques.
- Proficiency in laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., autoclaves, laminar flow hoods).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with rare or tropical plant species.
- Familiarity with data management software and laboratory information systems.
- Previous experience in a commercial tissue culture lab.
