Oakleaf Forestry Ltd is a well-established engineering and fabrication company supplying forestry machinery and subcontract services across the UK and Ireland. We are seeking a skilled Plasma Cutter Operator to join our workshop team and operate our Hypertherm XPR 300 plasma cutting system.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Hypertherm XPR 300 CNC plasma cutter to produce accurate parts from plate and sheet materials.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists.
• Set up cutting jobs, optimise nesting layouts, and monitor cutting quality.
• Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues.
• Work closely with the fabrication and engineering teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Follow health & safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment (experience with Hypertherm XPR systems preferred).
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
• Basic computer and CNC control skills.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with good communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience in steel fabrication and manufacturing.
• Forklift licence or overhead crane experience.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for nesting optimisation.
