Description

We are seeking an accomplished Plastics Engineer/Injection Molding Expert with a mandatory background in Polymer or Plastics Engineering to oversee our injection molding operations for a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility supplying global automakers. This role combines deep technical expertise in polymers/plastics with proven leadership and managerial skills, ensuring both engineering excellence and team performance. This is a full time, direct hire position comes with great benefit package.

PLASTICS ENGINEER/INJECTION MOLDING EXPERT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive injection molding experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven leadership in managing engineering or technical teams.
  • Polymer behavior and properties
  • Injection molding machinery and auxiliary equipment
  • Mold design, gating, cooling, and ejection systems
  • Experience with simulation software such as Moldflow.
  • Proven record of successful process optimization and problem-solving in a production environment.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
  • Proficiency in SPC and manufacturing analytics tools.
  • Japanese language skills is an big asset
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies for molding.
  • This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, lift in excess of 30 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a multidisciplinary technical team including engineers, technicians, and tooling specialists.
  • Set objectives, allocate resources, monitor performance, and ensure delivery on engineering KPIs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and skill development for team members.
  • Build and maintain a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary authority on polymer materials, plastics processing, and injection molding technology.
  • Approve process parameters and oversee process development to meet cost, quality, and cycle time targets.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting of molding, tooling, and materials issues.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Toyota Production System methodologies to -reduce scrap, improve OEE, and optimize throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Oversee PPAP, DOE, capability studies, and process validations for new launches.
  • Manage mold design, procurement, trials, and maintenance programs.
  • Approve polymer material specifications and supplier qualifications.
  • Drive material selection decisions based on performance, manufacturability, and cost targets.
  • Lead the injection molding function for all new product introductions, from design review to SOP.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to meet launch timelines and customer requirements.
