Description SUMMARY The Plate Maker – Sheetfed Offset Prepress (2nd Shift) is responsible for producing accurate, press-ready printing plates for a commercial sheetfed offset printing operation. This role ensures plates meet job specifications, quality standards, and production deadlines by performing detailed quality checks, operating CTP equipment, and working closely with Prepress and Pressroom teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The main responsibility of this job is to produce accurate, press-ready plates in accordance with job specifications. Verify plate and sheet sizes, imposition, color bars, and job requirements prior to plate output. Perform thorough quality control checks on color separations, spot colors, trapping, and special elements including dielines, coatings, and varnishes. Operate, maintain, and monitor CTP (Computer-to-Plate) equipment to ensure consistent output quality. Inspect plates for defects, damage, or inaccuracies prior to release to press. Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of plate-making equipment. Handle plates carefully to prevent damage during production and transport. Track plate remakes, waste, and related production issues. Communicate closely with Prepress and Pressroom teams to resolve issues and meet production deadlines. Maintain organization and cleanliness of the plate-making area, including proper storage and disposal of materials. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Performs other duties as requested. Requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Prior experience in commercial offset prepress and/or plate making required. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies. Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadline commitments. Candidate must be a detail-oriented, self-motivated team player who works well across departments. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with Production, Prepress, and Pressroom teams. Good problem-solving and basic troubleshooting skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials safely.
