Description

YOUR FUTURE ECOSYSTEM

Priva started as a hardware company and transformed into an innovative software company that grew to become the global market leader in horticulture and one of the leaders in building automation in Europe. Today, we are a high-tech family business that develops hardware, software, and digital services in the field of climate control, energy-saving, and optimal reuse of water. Our building solutions are found in buildings such as the Rijksmuseum, Hilton Hotels, Westminster Abbey, as well as the elephant enclosure at the Rotterdam Zoo.
Our next step is to conquer the digital domain and become a digital service provider, selling subscriptions to “climate as a service.”
We are proud to be working with over 600 colleagues, in 16 international branch offices divided over 12 countries together with over 400 international installation partners to deliver our sustainable solutions and services in more than 100 countries.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Platform Architect to join our team.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

As a Platform Architect, you will play a key role in designing, standardizing, and maintaining our platform architecture. You will be part of a team of five architects, working closely with three cloud teams and one embedded team. Your focus will be on system architecture—breaking down complex systems into modular building blocks and defining how these interact with each other.
Unlike traditional abstract architects, we are looking for someone who remains hands-on and can dive into the code when necessary. You will work on cloud software but you also have an interest in embedded and control applications. You will be responsible for setting standards within the teams and ensuring that architectural decisions lead to long-term, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a robust system architecture that aligns with Priva’s goals.
  • Standardizing processes and best practices across the teams to ensure long-term efficiency.
  • Supporting platform teams in creating services and products that serve the development teams efficiently.
  • Defining clear API and infrastructure guidelines to ensure seamless integration across all teams.
  • Balancing hands-on work with high- and low-level architectural design, including documentation (such as ADRs).
  • Managing stakeholders, ensuring that different departments understand and align with architectural choices.
  • Reducing uncertainty, helping teams and management feel confident in architectural decisions.
  • Ensuring edge capabilities are integrated effectively, making sure devices at customer sites interact seamlessly with cloud infrastructure.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for someone who is pragmatic, structured, and communicative. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders. Additionally, you bring:

  • At least 8 years of experience in software development or system architecture.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and knowledge of cloud services, container orchestration (Docker, AKS, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Security awareness, with the ability to implement secure solutions and engage in security discussions.
  • Solid understanding of PaaP and PaaS approaches.
  • Affinity with IoT, understanding how edge devices interact with the cloud and how different network architectures on the customer site impact these interactions.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to define and implement long-term architectural improvements.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus.
