Description:

Please note: We are not able to consider candidates who are not living and working in the Netherlands. At this moment we are not providing relocation sponsorships.
Schuberg Philis is looking for a Platform Engineer - Backup & Recovery to join our Data Management as a Service (DMS) team. This team is responsible for the availability of multiple data recovery platforms including a large, shared recovery platform that is consumed in a self-service methodology ensuring business continuity for both our internal organization and our customers. Through these platforms, based on Commvault technology, its consumers implement their data protection demands across multiple private and public cloud environments.
Being part of a small team with passioned data protection experts within our greater Services Team, you will work closely with the team working on our sbp.cloud cloud platform, which is our self-build sovereign cloud solutions offering. In this role, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in customer environments, offering insightful advisories on the most optimal solutions and executing thorough data management assessments. Our plan-build-run approach enables you to take ownership of your expertise, bring others along, collaborate on RFI’s/RFP’s and build the best service-oriented solutions designed for our customers.
What will you be doing?
In the role of Platform Engineer - Backup & Recovery, you will take ownership of both the current and to-be-build environments, platforms and solutions, whilst continuously working on improving the existing platforms with new features and enhancements. A close collaboration with our customer teams is therefore essential, ensuring they can meet their customer requirements around data protection while at the same time implementing standardized guardrails and striving to deliver best in class user experience.
The DMS platform runs on a segregated and dedicated infrastructure that is managed by the team itself and to be able to deliver the highest platform uptime it leverages a combination of clustering and SQL AlwaysOn that is unique to Commvault. Additionally, it leverages a broad range of storage targets including public cloud offerings, S3-compatible platforms running locally in our datacenters and a long-term storage solution based on tape media.
This service enables our customers to manage their data protection needs securely, guaranteeing data integrity and 100% platform uptime. These platforms contain 4000+ clients, ranging from Oracle, MS-SQL, SAP, Sybase, PaaS, container platforms and virtual machines running on various on-prem or public cloud platforms, creating more than 20000 recovery points a day.
Your passion for data protection and automation will simplify day-2 operations and drive cost-effectiveness, leaving room for implementing new security features and streamlining (new) customer deployments and facilitating new projects. This allows you to guide our customers in understanding their data protection needs and implementing solutions. Your expertise will help offer strategic insights into RFP’s and RFI’s, making informed decisions rooted in customer requirements and your technical proficiency.

You will have full responsibility over the platform(s), which in short means:

  • Managing complex recovery platforms based on Commvault technology following our plan-build-run methodology
  • Delivery up to the 100% platform uptime & customer satisfaction promise
  • Handing diverse storage platforms, including public cloud offerings and on-prem S3-compatible platforms
  • Supporting customers with managing workloads running on VMware, Azure Stack HCI, AWS and Azure
  • Implementing customer consumable features and capabilities
  • Automate repetitive tasks.

Who are we looking for?

As a Platform Engineer - Backup & Recovery, we, of course, expect you to know your way around data protection, preferably with multiple products and/or vendors. We are looking for someone with the following experience:

  • 5+ years of recent experience as an engineer in data management/data protection, with a strong preference for expertise in Commvault
  • You like to be challenged by your peers
  • You have experience with working in complex and secure environments
  • Experience with both Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience with both private (VMware) and public cloud (Azure, AWS)
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code methodologies
  • Understanding of multi-tenant architectures and concepts

Everyone we work with and consider working with has a right to equal treatment. The hiring and appraisal process at Schuberg Philis is designed to be thorough and equitable, implementing fair payment, benefits, and opportunities across all demographics.
It is our desire to be a company that brings together multiple nationalities, cultures, religions, genders, abilities, and talents within and across our teams. We welcome colleagues from diverse backgrounds to join Schuberg Philis and actively support diversity and inclusion in the tech industry
