PLATFORM ENGINNER | FINANCIAL ENTERPRISE | LONG-TERM PROJECT

The ALM department utilizes a vendor system for calculating Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk, along with FTP charges, to support our weekly and monthly reporting processes. The platform comprises Windows Virtual Machines hosting the application, SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS database components, an auto-scaling compute cluster built around Microsoft HPC Pack, and a Remote Desktop VM for application access.
Currently, the platform is supported by a team of four business-oriented developers with limited expertise in infrastructure management. We are seeking a Platform Engineer with expertise in SQL Server and Windows VM administration (preferably Azure-hosted) to assume ownership of the platform’s daily operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in monitoring, automation, and proactive platform management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer with expertise in SQL Server administration and Windows Virtual Machine management.
• Proficient in T-SQL query writing.
• Comfortable scripting in Windows Batch and PowerShell.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Confident in representing the team in daily stakeholder calls from an infrastructure perspective.
• Ability to take ownership of infrastructure-related challenges and drive resolutions.
• A team player who ensures tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.
• Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and implement tactical solutions.
• Fluent in English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Experience in building monitoring scripts, dashboards, and alerts.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud components, including Key Vault, Storage

• Execute database and OLAP cube backups, restores, transfers, maintenance, and upgrades as requested by stakeholders.
• Monitor the performance of VMs, disks, SQL Server, and SSAS, resolving immediate issues as needed.
• Develop and implement monitoring solutions, dashboards, reports, and alerts to enhance proactive platform support.
• Assess hardware profiles and identify performance improvement opportunities, such as parallel setups.
• Support internal month-end software deployments.
• Install monthly security updates and address software vulnerabilities.
• Install and conduct performance testing on new versions of the vendor system.
• Identify repetitive maintenance tasks and support requests for automation; proactively implement improvements.
