We have an opportunity for a Platform Manager to join our Cards & Merchant Domain. As part of our wider Products & Services Technology area, the Cards & Merchants domain are responsible for BNZs card issuing, transactions switch and merchant acquiring platforms. In addition, the domain support scheme compliance, statementing, loyalty, disputes management and several unsecured lending products within our platforms. Our teams manage a large and diverse technology stack. You’ll have the opportunity to work on customer and bank critical systems. Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We sat down with the Head of Technology – Cards & Merchants, and he let us know the following about the role. What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? Platform Strategy: Develop and communicate a compelling platform strategy that meets stakeholders' requirements, aligns with BNZ’s goals, and drives impactful outcomes. Guide technology teams toward delivery excellence. People Leadership: Lead Platform Owners/Leads, Principal Engineers and Engineering Leads through all employee lifecycle stages—attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding. Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability to drive performance and alignment with business goals. Delivery & Planning: Create and maintain a comprehensive roadmap, to meet agreed business objectives. Manage and ensure BNZ initiatives within your portfolio are delivered on time and in budget. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technology teams, architects, vendors, and stakeholders to design, build, and maintain a seamless platform that integrates with other systems. Service Ownership: Ensure compliance with BNZ group information risk and other policies and deliver safe, secure and reliable systems. Lead incident and problem management response across your portfolio. What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity? You will be instrumental in driving modernisation and simplification across Cards & Merchant platforms, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and fostering high performing teams. This role allows you to make a significant impact on the bank's technology portfolio by delivering high-quality resilient platforms. You’ll lead the development and operation of platforms within the Cards & Merchants Technology Domain. What will success look like for the candidate in this role? Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively leading teams to achieve our strategic goals, ensuring alignment with customer and stakeholder needs. The candidate will successfully build a high performing and engaged team, nurture a culture of trust, collaboration and accountability. You’ll lead internal teams and work with partners to ensure platform stability, scalability, security, and compliance. What technical skills are required for this role?
