We have an opportunity for a Platform Owner in our Customer Onboarding & Identity domain. As a Platform Owner within BNZ Technology, you will maximise the value delivered by the platform team, ensuring alignment with customer needs, stakeholder expectations, and BNZ’s strategic goals. Serving as the team’s advocate and main link with stakeholders, you’ll drive the development of robust, scalable platform solutions that deliver sustainable business outcomes. Platform Owners work within business-aligned platform teams to develop and deliver roadmaps, working collaboratively with Platform Managers as well as Engineering Leads who take the primary responsibility for the goals and development of the technical members of these teams. You may see another role at BNZ called ‘Platform Lead’ which directly manage their team, working on specialist technical systems/platforms, and they often share in their team’s technical skillset or have similar experience. Mō te Tūranga | About the Role What are some day-to-day tasks the successful candidate in this role will complete? Prioritization: Prioritise platform enhancements based on customer value, business impact, and resources, ensuring application management aligns with the Critical Hygiene Framework. Delivery: Lead a high-performing team to deliver quality work. You will own the overall team output and its practices to ensure the team performs at its best for BNZ and its customers. Planning: Define and communicate a clear platform roadmap aligned with BNZ’s strategic goals, driving the platform team towards operational excellence. Stakeholder engagement: Work with our business & technology partners to ensure the work of the team is visible and aligns with business & technology goals. People Leadership: Lead Business Analysts through all employee lifecycle stages—attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding. Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability to drive performance and alignment with business goals. Risk Management: Mitigate technology risks to ensure security, compliance, and resilience. Resolve incidents to meet recovery SLAs, conduct post-incident reviews, and prioritize actions to improve availability What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity? This Platform Owner role will be responsible for a number of applications – both front-end and back-end – involved in Customer Identity. The team has a solid runway of work ahead of them to extend the Single Sign On capability to other parts of the business, continuation of Open banking enhancement working alongside other Identity teams. It’s set to be an interesting piece of work. You’ll also be required to balance this with meeting our Critical Hygiene Framework goals, giving you ample opportunity to put your prioritisation, planning, and stakeholder management skills to the test. What technical skills are required for this role? Product Ownership Experience: Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, ideally in platform products. People Leadership: Experience in leading and developing Business Analysts through all stages of the employee lifecycle. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of software development processes and platform architecture, a basic understanding of single sign on, open banking and OpenID framework. Backlog Management: Expertise in creating, prioritising, and managing a product backlog effectively. Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to use data and KPIs to inform prioritisation and product decisions. Agile Methodologies: Proficient in agile practices, including sprint planning and user story development. Stakeholder Management: Skilled at aligning with and managing expectations of key stakeholders. What will success look like for the candidate in this role? Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively driving the platform team towards operational excellence, ensuring alignment with customer needs, stakeholder expectations, and BNZ’s strategic goals. The candidate will also be successful in promoting a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability, and ensuring platform stability, scalability, security, and compliance.
