As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience developing system software for high-performance CPUs and contributing to open-source RISC-V projects. The Internship length is flexible (typically 12–16 months). Start Date: May 2026. This role is on-site, based out of Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX. Who You Are A motivated and curious student passionate about low-level programming, firmware, and operating systems. Excited to learn about high-performance CPU system software and AI/ML hardware platforms. A clear communicator who can explain technical issues effectively. Collaborative, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to challenging projects. Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple technical priorities. What We Need Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Strong programming skills (Assembly, C, Python preferred). Experience with Linux operating systems. Familiarity with version control (Git preferred). Interest in CPUs, operating systems, firmware, and low-level software. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies. What You Will Learn Build software and scripts to run on high-performance CPUs. Enhance system software testing and optimization for pre-silicon environments. Maintain Git infrastructure supporting CI/CD and nightly regressions. Develop tools and scripts for design flow automation. Contribute to open-source RISC-V projects and collaborate with engineers on software performance improvements. Compensation for all interns at Tenstorrent ranges from $50/hr - $70/hr including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
