Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer II – Travel Role
Pay Rate: $41–$45/hour
Location: Mason, OH (When Not Traveling)
Employment Type: Contract (6 Months, Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire)
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 40–60 hours/week onsite

BEPC is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer II with expertise in industrial automation and material handling systems. This role is heavily travel-focused and centers on commissioning, programming, and supporting high-speed sortation and conveyor systems at client sites across the U.S. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in Studio 5000 and Allen-Bradley PLCs, with a strong background in commissioning and controls for material handling. Experience in post and parcel operations is strongly preferred.Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission PLC and HMI software for automated material handling systems.
  • Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000.
  • Perform I/O validation, QA/QC testing, and system readiness checks.
  • Support BUAT/UAT/FAT testing and provide post-installation support.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide customer training when needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 4+ years of controls engineering experience with material handling systems.
  • Proficiency with Studio 5000 and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Hands-on experience with conveyors, sorters, and high-speed sortation systems.
  • Strong preference for candidates with post and parcel operations background.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • PLC & HMI: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Wonderware Aveva Edge, FactoryTalk View.
  • Drives & Interfaces: VFDs, scanner integration (SICK, Cognex), machine vision.
  • Software Tools: Studio 5000, RSLinx, Aveva Edge, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Ignition, SOPAS, SST Profibus, Datalogic DataMan.
  • Networking: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, industrial communication protocols.

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Strong project planning, scheduling, and budgeting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in fast-paced environments.
