Job Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Mason, OH (Travel Required ~90%)
Employment Type: Contract (Full-Time, 40–60 hours/week)
Role OverviewBEPC is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to support the commissioning and testing of automated material handling systems. This hands-on role involves working with high-speed sortation, scanning, and merging systems across dynamic environments. It’s ideal for engineers with controls experience who are ready for extensive travel and technical collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Up to 4 years of experience in controls engineering or material handling projects.
  • Experience or familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Wonderware Aveva Edge (or comparable HMI platforms).
  • Interest or background in post and parcel operations is a plus.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Person.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • PLC & HMI Platforms: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Wonderware, FactoryTalk View
  • Drives & Interfaces: VFDs, Cognex/SICK scanners, machine vision systems
  • Software: Studio 5000, RSLinx, AutoCAD Electrical, B&R Automation Studio
  • Networking: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, WCS integration
  • Additional Tools: Ignition, SOPAS, SST Profibus Config Tool, Datalogic DataMan

SOFT SKILLS

  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 90%)
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities
  • Support PLC and HMI programming and on-site system commissioning.
  • Contribute to defining project scope, managing schedules, and delivering milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation including QA/QC protocols and test plans.
  • Assist with BUAT, UAT, and FAT testing along with post-installation troubleshooting.
  • Participate in end-user training and technical support.
