POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer with a proven background in automotive automation, particularly robotic welding and controls development. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of Allen-Bradley control systems, FactoryTalk HMI development, and be capable of independently managing controls scope from concept through commissioning. This is not a supervisory role but requires professional maturity, technical depth, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 3 years of PLC/HMI programming experience in North America, preferably within an automotive automation environment
  • Extensive experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix platforms
  • Strong proficiency with FactoryTalk View Studio and PanelView Plus HMIs
  • Solid understanding of Rockwell Safety I/O configuration and validation
  • Demonstrated ability to perform on-site system debug, startup, and commissioning
  • Familiarity with resistance welding equipment, sensors, safety devices, and related hardware
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to the United States for service and commissioning work
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Professional communication skills with customers and internal stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to robotic integration (Fanuc, ABB, or similar)
  • Experience with nut-welding or pedestal weld systems
  • Knowledge of EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical for reviewing schematics
  • Familiarity with customer-specific standards (GM, Stellantis, Ford, etc.)
Responsibilities
  • Design and program PLC systems using Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000
  • Develop and configure HMI interfaces using FactoryTalk View Studio (ME/SE)
  • Integrate and troubleshoot Rockwell safety I/O systems and safety-rated devices
  • Configure industrial communications (Ethernet/IP, I/O-Link, DeviceNet, etc.)
  • Conduct full I/O checkout, debug, and validate systems both in-house and on-site
  • Participate in equipment startup and commissioning at customer locations
  • Document control logic, schematics, and change logs per internal and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with project management, mechanical, and electrical design teams
  • Adhere to all relevant CSA, OHSA, and customer-specific safety and quality standards
