Description

Title: PLC Technician

CGC Inc. Is currently recruiting PLC Technicians for our Wheatland plant.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Direct installation, start-up, configuration, and troubleshooting of plant process control equipment, including Rockwell PLCs, Yaskawa VFDs, and Ignition HMI systems.
  • Perform pneumatic/electronic instrumentation maintenance, including installation, repair, cleaning, calibration, and troubleshooting independently.
  • Provide documentation and ongoing technical support for all plant PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and DCS systems.
  • Understand and comply with Canadian Electrical Codes, including CSA-Z462, and perform all electrician duties in a manufacturing environment.
  • Adhere to safety and housekeeping requirements in a manufacturing setting.
  • Participate in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Responsible for selecting, recommending, installing, and training on new process control technologies and investigating new developments for potential implementation.
  • Foster good employee morale and working relationships within and between departments.
  • Assist with implementing CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, Visual Work Inspections, etc.
  • Accountable for updating LEAN metrics and supporting continuous improvement efforts by using Lean Six Sigma methods to make processes more efficient and reduce waste.
  • Adapt to scheduling requirements, including shift work, overtime, weekends, and on-call duties as necessary with advanced notice.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician, PLC technician with 5+ years of PLC/HMI design and programming experience.
  • Experience in programming, troubleshooting, and debugging Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs, Ignition HMI, Yaskawa VFDs, Wonderware, and related systems.
  • Solid understanding of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting industrial control components like PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, valves, sensors, switches, transmitters, power supplies, relays, timers, and I/O devices.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet IP networks in industrial control systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret and modify electrical and process control drawings, including IO schematics and single line diagrams. AutoCAD skills are an asset.
  • Exceptional computer skills for safety training, data entry, and reporting.
  • Effective teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Periodic travel may be required during the training period.

Additional Information:
Hourly Wage: $45.25 – $53.70
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
