Job Details Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $80,844.00 This position supports all Authority operating departments responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and gas systems in both residential and commercial structures. The Licensed Plumber works closely with other professionals during construction and renovation projects to ensure the seamless integration of plumbing systems. This role ensures compliance with all relevant codes and standards, maintains accurate records, and provides timely responses to plumbing-related issues, supporting the Authority's overall mission of safety and efficiency. As needed, the position assists in all department activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned. Plumbing Installation, Maintenance, and Repairs: Install, repair, replace, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in both commercial and residential structures. Perform routine inspections and diagnostics of plumbing and drainage systems using appropriate tools and techniques to identify potential issues. Cut, assemble, and install pipes and tubes, ensuring proper connections and adherence to building codes. Inspect previously installed plumbing systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety regulations. Weld pipes as needed for specific installations or repairs. Install, maintain, and repair central heating systems and domestic fuel-burning appliances, including gas, oil, and solid fuel units. Boiler and Hot Water System Maintenance: Install, repair, and replace boilers, including steam and hot water boilers, ensuring efficiency and safety in public housing facilities. Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on boilers, water heaters, and hot water tanks to ensure consistent operation. Diagnose issues related to boiler pressure, heat exchangers, and fuel delivery systems, applying appropriate repair solutions. Conduct safety inspections on boilers and hot water systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Flush and clean hot water tanks, replacing heating elements and anode rods as necessary. Troubleshoot thermostats, expansion tanks, and circulation pumps to maintain proper system function. Collaborative and Multi-Trade Work: Work closely with general contractors, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other tradespeople to coordinate installation and repair projects. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of projects. Assist in training and mentoring junior plumbing staff or apprentices as needed. General Maintenance and Additional Responsibilities: Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls, including leaks, broken pipes, sewer backups, and heating failures. Complete light construction tasks, such as carpentry, painting, plastering, and minor electrical work when required. Perform heavy lifting when moving materials, equipment, or large plumbing fixtures. Prepare client bids, budgets, and cost estimates for plumbing projects, ensuring transparency and cost efficiency. Keep accurate records of time worked, work performed, and materials used, maintaining logs and reports as required. Ensure that all work adheres to health and safety guidelines, wearing appropriate PPE and following best practices. Qualifications Education and/or Experience Work requires High school diploma or GED. State plumbing license. 3-5 years of experience as a licensed plumber or journeyman plumber. Valid driver’s license. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Ability to establish goals and achieve measurable outcomes. Experience with budget construction and financial management. Experience working with a local government or public housing authority industry preferred.
