Are you a licensed Tradesperson tired of chasing billable hours, driving site-to-site, and dealing with seasonal layoffs? Williams College offers the opportunity to work in a stable, year-round environment maintaining top-tier educational facilities. To support our dedicated Mechanical Trades team and enhance our service capabilities, we are currently looking to fill three (3) full-time positions (with immediate and upcoming start dates). We are looking to add skilled Licensed Technicians who can help us round out the shop. Whether your strength is primarily Refrigeration, Plumbing, or General HVAC Controls, your expertise will be a valued addition to our versatile team. This is a full-time, year-round appointment reporting to the Mechanical Trades Foreman. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. (Note: Schedules are subject to change based on departmental needs, including occasional on-call assignments, emergencies, or overtime). You will focus on high-level preventative maintenance and repairs, ensuring our campus infrastructure operates efficiently. You will work on a single campus in Williamstown, MA, with a consistent schedule and a supportive crew. As a Mechanical Trades Technician, you play a critical role in business continuity at the College. By completing maintenance work orders assigned to the Mechanical Trades team, you'll be a key partner in preventing unplanned asset failures - and the disruptions and costs they cause - directly supporting the College's mission to provide a nurturing educational environment. Responsibilities: Performing assigned work orders regarding the installation and maintenance of the College’s HVAC equipment Monitoring field work for efficiency and best practices. Communicating with the campus community to effectively schedule maintenance and repairs Assisting Preventive Maintenance Technicians with work orders. Assisting with Campus snow control Steam Distribution Installing and maintaining Heat Pumps throughout campus Other duties as assigned Requirements: At least one of these licenses must be held, active and current at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment: Refrigeration License [MA Refrigeration Technician License] (preferred) EPA 608 Certification, with 4-5 years of experience (preferred) Plumbing License [MA Plumbing, Gasfitters, and LP License] Sprinkler Fitter License [MA Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter License] Demonstrable working knowledge of and experience with: Hot Water/Chilled Water Closed loop maintenance Chiller Maintenance Heat pumps Computer Basics DCS system Plumbing/Pipefitting Boiler Controls HVAC Controls-pneumatic/electronic Compressor Maintenance Steam Distribution Maintenance Additional Qualifications: High school diploma, plus minimum of 2 years relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to independently manage workload and schedule activities with assigned customers. Ability to work safely and efficiently without close supervision is essential. Ability to work on a ladder. Pay range is from $31 to $38 per hour, commensurate with experience.
