JOB SUMMARY This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Facility Management Division of the General Services Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Tasks performed require journeyman skills and knowledge relevant to plumbing which have been acquired prior to assuming the job. Essential job functions include: installing, repairing and maintaining water, gas, steam, and other pipe systems. The employee performs work independently and is expected to keep accurate records and prepare written estimates of materials needed for various jobs. Assignments are received in the form of verbal instructions, blueprints, or written work orders. The Plumber may be required to act as lead person when working with other employees and has considerable information exchange with City personnel and outside vendors. Work is reviewed by the supervisor upon completion for conformity with established quality standards. VETERANS PREFERENCE Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference.
