Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To maintain and repair all above-ground sanitaryware and general plumbing in ASDA stores and to maintain and clean all surface and foul water drainage systems in Asda stores to pre-determined standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To represent the company in a professional manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with the IST and ASDA colleagues.
  • To complete the PPM schedules within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid-down procedures.
  • To respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.
  • To prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
  • To order spares to the laid-down procedures.
  • Where necessary to procure essential parts and materials and to liaise with the GSM in order to affect the repair and minimise disruption in the store.
  • Where the sanitaryware or general plumbing/drainage is beyond repair, to make recommendations to the RFM regarding suitable replacement/alternatives.
  • To attend cell meetings as and when required.
  • To carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the Head of Plumbing and Drainage..
  • To assist Plumbing/Drainage Engineers in other areas when requested to do so by the Head of Plumbing and Drainage.
  • To ensure all tools and equipment necessary (as per company tool list) to complete maintenance and repairs are available and serviceable at all times.
  • To supervise, monitor and control the work, attendance and timekeeping of the Plumbing/Drainage Trainee’s to ensure quality standards and efficiency is maintained.
  • To ensure all staff are aware of and understand company practices and procedures relating to plumbing/drainage systems.
  • To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal and plumbing/drainage team job skills keep pace with technical developments.
  • To comply with the company Health and Safety Policy and ensure all stores adhere to water/effluent/environmental byelaws at all times.
  • To work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
  • To comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the Regional Engineering Supervisor or Regional Facilities Manager
