JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Design Engineer with at least 4 years of professional experience designing and delivering plumbing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial building projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will develop efficient, compliant plumbing solutions—from conceptual layouts to detailed shop drawings—and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in plumbing system design for building projects, preferably in the UAE/Gulf region.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and hydraulic calculation software (Elite Software, H2X, or similar).
• Strong understanding of plumbing codes, water supply and drainage principles, and sustainable water efficiency practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Effective communication and coordination abilities, with proven experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Professional certification (e.g., Certified Plumbing Designer, LEED AP) is a plus.

Experience:

• System Design & Calculations:
• Perform hydraulic and pressure drop calculations for potable water, drainage (soil, waste, vent), stormwater, and hot water systems using industry-standard software (e.g., Elite Software, AutoCAD MEP).
• Design piping layouts, riser diagrams, and isometric drawings for cold water, hot water, sanitary, rainwater, and gas systems in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
• Size pumps, expansion tanks, water heaters, and booster systems, ensuring adequate flow, pressure, and energy efficiency.
• Technical Documentation:
• Produce detailed design drawings, equipment schedules, material specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement.
• Compile calculation reports, technical submittals, and tender packages that comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and Abu Dhabi Municipality requirements.
• Standards & Compliance:
• Ensure all plumbing designs adhere to UAE codes and standards (Abu Dhabi Municipality, ADDC, ADM) and international guidelines (IPC, BS EN, ASME).
• Liaise with local authorities and Civil Defense for design approvals, responding promptly to review comments and revisions.
• Coordination & Collaboration:
• Coordinate plumbing layouts and BIM models with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection disciplines using Navisworks Manage or BIM 360 to perform clash detection and resolve conflicts.
• Participate in design coordination meetings, present plumbing proposals, and integrate feedback from consultants and clients.
• Project Support & Quality Control:
• Review and stamp shop drawings and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards.
• Conduct site visits to verify installations against drawings, troubleshoot field issues, and implement necessary revisions.
• Support commissioning activities, including system testing, balancing, and handover documentation.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Develop and maintain a library of plumbing BIM families, templates, and standard details.
• Mentor junior engineers and drafters, sharing best practices in plumbing design and BIM workflows.
