Independent Mechanical Supply Inc. Plumbing Estimator Position Description
The Plumbing Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of materials for plumbing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plumbing estimating, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The incumbent will work closely with the Outside Sales, Inside Sales, Project Quotations, Purchasing, and Operations teams to help to grow business at IMS.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Accurately identify and interpret the plumbing products on a job specification, scope of work, or RFQ documents
• Assemble approval drawing and maintenance manual packages for outside sales representatives and customers
• Accurately enter quotes into Independent’s ERP system
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers
• Coordinate customer returns
• Maintain system pricing
• Negotiate project pricing
• Assist customers in sourcing products and solutions to their technical problems
• Maintain and update records of project estimates and related documentation
• Request vendor pricing from multiple vendors
• Follow up with customers on quoted projects
• Other duties as assigned

Mandatory Requirements

• One year or more experience with and superior knowledge of wholesale plumbing
• Experience with Office 365, Order Entry Software, and Internet Information Gathering/Research
• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment
• Experience suggesting and implementing changes to processes and procedure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Established history of demonstrating the ability to pay attention to detail
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Presentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Order Entry Software and Internet Information Gathering/Research
• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning and team building skills
• Customer centric - Obsessive about providing excellent customer service.
