Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience on Higher Ed, Municipal, K-12, or similar Commercial projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina, or ability to obtain your PE in North Carolina within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Support the proposal process by providing project manager and client with input on design options, project schedules, and code review.
  • Perform site visits to existing facilities for renovation/addition projects for information gathering on existing conditions.
  • Work with project managers and designers and collaborate with other disciplines to prepare construction drawings and calculations within AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Perform quality control review analyses to ensure final documents and specifications exceed client expectations.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary coordination and manage final reviews/approvals between disciplines and agencies and respond to comments.
  • Continue involvement through the construction process including submittal review, RFI response, field visits, and closeout documentation.

Skills

  • Perform full plumbing system design and sizing (water, waste, storm drainage, fuel systems, med gas, etc.) calculations and plumbing fixture selection.
  • Design zone layouts and riser diagram for building sprinkler system.
  • Produce plumbing & fire protection design drawing packages (plans, construction details, specifications, life safety).
