JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and refrigeration systems. This includes residential, commercial, and industrial cooling and refrigeration units. The engineer ensures systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with environmental and building regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field
  • CERTIFICATIONS:HVAC/R Technician Certification (e.g., EPA Section 608 for the US, or equivalent local authority certification)F-Gas Certification (for Europe)Trade license (if required by local jurisdiction)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HVAC/R system installation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial refrigeration units (walk-in freezers, chillers, cold rooms, etc.)
  • Experience with electrical controls and HVAC automation is a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Knowledge of refrigerants and recovery procedures
  • Skilled in using HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a plus

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Time management and ability to work independently or in teams
  • Customer service-oriented attitude

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs or ~23 kg)
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in varying weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or be on-call for emergencies
Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, and test HVAC and refrigeration systems (split systems, chillers, VRF/VRV systems, cold rooms, etc.)
  • Perform regular maintenance and service checks on HVAC/R systems
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and make necessary repairs
  • Recharge refrigeration systems with appropriate refrigerants
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Maintain records of service reports, repairs, and parts used
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and junior technicians
  • Recommend system improvements and energy-saving solutions
  • Collaborate with other engineers, electricians, and project managers
