As the Plumbing Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching, managing, and overseeing Gutridge’s plumbing apprenticeship program. What Are We Looking For? Prepare and deliver engaging classroom and virtual instruction aligned with NCCER Plumbing Levels I–IV and Core curriculum, incorporating the current Ohio Plumbing Code to prepare apprentices for the Ohio Journeyperson Licensing Exam. (Classes held twice weekly, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM.) Develop and lead hands-on lab training covering DWV systems, water distribution, fixtures, and specialty plumbing systems. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, OJT hours, grades, and NCCER module/performance completions. Ensure all training documentation complies with NCCER accreditation standards and support audit requirements. Enforce OSHA safety standards and maintain a safe, compliant classroom and lab environment. Mentor apprentices in professionalism, jobsite readiness, and long-term career development. Provide ongoing mentorship to current employees and conduct jobsite visits to support skill development, reinforce training standards, and maintain alignment between classroom instruction and field practices. Collaborate with the Plumbing Division Manager, Human Resources, and affiliated instructors to support program growth and alignment. Assist in managing budgets for tools, equipment, and materials to ensure responsible, cost-effective resource use. Requirements What Do We Want To See? NCCER Certified Plumbing Instructor credential required, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. At least four (4) years of documented experience as a state-licensed Journeyperson or Master Plumber OR three (3) years of documented experience as a certified vocational/technical instructor in plumbing or a related construction/maintenance program. Working knowledge of the Ohio Plumbing Code and strong understanding of plumbing systems, tools, materials, and installation methods. Ability to effectively teach apprentices at varying skill levels, with strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Demonstrated ability to interpret and instruct technical trade materials and construction documentation, and apply plumbing-related math, including measurements and calculations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for instructional delivery and recordkeeping. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
