Job DetailsJob Location: POULSBO, WA 98370Position Type: Full TimePort Madison Construction Corporation Operator General Position Summary: Operate one or several types of power construction equipment such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, pavers or front-end loaders to excavate, move and grade earth, erect structures or pour concrete, asphalt or other hard surface pavement. May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant policies and procedures. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks. Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required. Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored. Specific Job Skills: Good communication skills (including listening, writing and speaking). Ability to work with people as part of a team, to handle stressful situations, follow directions and make good decisions. Ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting, standing or lying down. Ability to detect the differences in sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, to push, pull or carry objects. Ability to see details at a distance as well as at close range and to judge distance between you and an object. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift pushes, pull or carry objects. Ability to quickly respond with hand, finger or foot to a signal, including the ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals such as lights, sounds, pictures etc. Ability to move hands quickly, grasp, manipulate or assemble objects. Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment and tools involved in the construction/excavating business and the ability to handle and/or operate them safely and responsibly. QualificationsEducation and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum 7 years of construction or excavation experience preferable, with minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operations. A valid State of Washington driver’s license is required. Job Conditions: Working conditions include working in a setting that requires manual labor and knowledge and use of safety equipment. May be exposed to weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. Physical Requirements: Manual and finger dexterity for operation of different tools and machinery. Lifting and moving heavy equipment. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
