PMO Manager for Exploration, Science and Human Spaceflight missions (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
Objective of job
Supporting the director of Exploration, Science and Human Spaceflight and two project managers in all PMO-relevant activities (internal and external) in project planning, organization and implementation as well as business management aspects.
Supporting the two project managers in the definition, development, implementation and improvement of suitable project management tools, processes and templates to increase efficiency and optimize the specifications in the projects with regard to time, costs and quality as well as to minimize risks in the projects.

Main tasks within job

  • Support of the project manager in the project planning, organization and implementation as well as the business management aspects. Depending on the project requirements, different focal points of activity are set:
  • Support or professional management of the resource planning process for the projects, clarification of personnel requirements with the project manager.
  • Support in the creation and maintenance of the project structure plan, work packages and related agreements (Internal Performance Agreements/Work Orders).
  • Schedule control and tracking of action lists (Action Item Tracking).
  • Supporting the risk and change management in the project.
  • Supporting the creation of the cost-to-completion in cooperation with the project controller.
  • Organization of internal project review meetings.
  • Creation and presentation of results reports to the client (progress reporting).
  • Support the organization of meetings between all industrial partners.
  • Support of the claim management (towards contractors and subcontractors).
  • Support of all usual necessary project management activities (internal and external) in consultation with the project manager.
  • Further development of tailored project management methods:
  • Supporting the project manager in defining, developing, implementing and improving suitable project management tools, processes and templates for project management with the option of reuse for other projects.
  • Presentation of new developments and improvement measures and implementation of the improvements.DM/CM coordination
  • Team access to IT infrastructure & other IT support (regular task)
  • Inventory record (very small effort only, to be updated for ESA-level project reviews)
  • Planisware (regularly, with a short peak upon monthly import from SAP)

Your Qualifications

  • Typical relevant education: Completed studies in aerospace engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Professional and methodical competence: Experience in PMO activities or project management as well as with the common project management methods
  • Experience in various projects in relevant project phases
  • Definition of project goals; schedule and process planning; resource planning; risk management; configuration & change management
  • Controlling of performance (time, cost, quality); preparation of risk, schedule and support of cost estimates for succession phases; familiarity with ECSS standards and other relevant standards, process knowledge
  • Social skills: Good analytical skills; Good communication skills; High willingness to cooperate; Well organized working style; Conflict solving ability
  • Personal effect: Diplomatic and self-confident appearance; Persuasiveness
