JOB SUMMARY

The PMO Manager is responsible for the overall execution of active IT projects; overseeing the planning, governance, reporting, and delivery of project efforts. The PMO Manager develops, establishes, and maintains project management standards and procedures. Throughout the project lifecycle, the PMO Manager monitors and obtains feedback and performs quality assurance to ensure that project efforts meet customer expectations for value and objectives.
This position reports to the PMO Director and works together to drive value delivery for the company across all IT disciplines (Infrastructure, Network, Facilities, Telephony, Application Development and Support, and DevOps).

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems or similar required.
  • 8+ years of Project Management or IT Management.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Agile project management certification preferred, PMI-ACP, CSM, PSM.
  • Experience in SD/TLC, Disciplined Agile, Scrum, Kanban practices.
  • Successful track record managing IT projects.
  • Experience working with Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet, specifically.
  • Experience in IT release planning and coordination of release activities.
  • Experience with Lean concepts and applying them in a technology environment.
  • Experience managing an IT Portfolio or Project Management Office.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management position.
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in all aspects of project management (projects, program, & portfolio management).
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak and write about technical issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Accountable for the IT project management processes including: IT planning, project governance, and project management methodologies.
  • Assist PMO Director with portfolio resource capacity management.
  • Create and foster team collaboration, relevancy, and reliability throughout the IT departments and the organization to execute successful projects.
  • Ensure project management standards are being executed across the IT project portfolio.
  • Drive improvements into the PMO program and ensure industry best practices are leveraged.
  • Perform team member coaching and supervision including performance management, career growth and development. Mentor and provide coaching/training for ad-hoc project managers.
  • Create and maintain staffing plans. Ensure the team is properly trained and staffed to handle the projected workload, both from an internal staffing and external staffing support.
  • Work closely with cross-functional IT teams and resources to achieve program and project milestones within established timeframes.
  • Oversee and ensure projects adhere to appropriate governance programs.
  • Work with PMO Director to negotiate and secure resources to support projects.
  • Monitor progress of active projects. Track progress against plan (cost and schedule) and ensure project teams and other stakeholders have the tools necessary to deliver value.
  • Ensure reporting to PMO Director and senior leaders is consistent and accurate.
  • Proactively identify and resolve time sensitive project risks, issues, interdependencies, and conflicts, both within and across business units and initiatives and coordinate implementation. Identify themes and problem areas within projects.
  • Facilitate project change control process.
  • Create, implement, and document common procedures and practices that can be applied cross-functionally, ensuring adherence to corporate and business unit standards.
  • Ensure project/program management artifacts are appropriately signed for best hand-offs to progress through SDLC & project phases for accountability and entered into applicable repositories.
  • Build and manage project knowledge base for retrospectives/lessons learned and project/program closure.
  • Responsible for adherence to utilize tools, standards and use of appropriate methodology for projects.
  • May step in for project portfolio reporting and management as needed.
  • Support PMO director with annual and quarterly planning process.
  • Directly manage team of project managers.
  • Matrixed supervision of IT projects led by IT teams outside of the IT PMO.
