Be part of something special as Laraway Youth and Family Services opens a new school wing for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other Intensive Needs!
The Pod Lead of SHINES is responsible for informing individualized programming through collaborative development and implementation of a wide range of interventions and instructional strategies for a cohort of assigned students. As Lead, this position models, trains, and observes Intensive Needs Behavior Interventionists (INBIs) in collaboration with the Case Manager and Coordinator. This position works closely with the Coordinator and BCBA to maintain Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), inputs data, and measures the fidelity of implemented interventions. Under the direction of the Coordinator, the Pod Lead assists with program initiatives, develops student facing materials, and provides small group/one-on-one functional skill instruction. When INBIs are absent, the Pod Lead is the primary substitute.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors in a related field is preferred; however, bachelor’s degree nearing completion and relevant experience with a strong staff development plan may be considered.
  • Must have experience supporting individuals diagnosed with Autism and/or intensive needs.
  • Successful clearance of Criminal Background Check, maintenance required.
  • Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and daily access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is a Mandated Reporter; as such, is required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect to authorities.
  • Must be able to work effectively within the structure of the school, keeping Laraway ethics and conduct expectations for behavior in mind.
  • Ability to complete and maintain Handle with Care verbal and physical certifications.
  • Handle with Care Trainer certification preferred.
  • Ability to pass First Aid & CPR training and maintain certification.
  • Active Lifeguard certification preferred.

WORK/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Given the at-risk population served, the position requires ongoing training and preparedness in the execution of physical restraint techniques. This may require running to catch a student.
  • The “Handle with Care” training program specifies that individuals with back and neck limitations are likely to be hampered in the execution of the protocols and greatly increases risk of harm to self or student.
  • Ability to engage with youth in a variety of activities ranging from art, music, cooking and physical activities such as walking, hiking, swimming, and other outdoor sports.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities
  • Inform, collaboratively develop, and implement a variety of instructional and intervention strategies as outlined in the assigned student’s Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and individualized programming protocols.
  • Provide 5:1 service, direct supervision, and substitute coverage to identified cohort of students.
  • Provide timely feedback to colleagues during Individualized Plan of Care (IPC) development and revision.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of each assigned student’s Individualized Plan of Care (IPC) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Guide, support, and provide feedback to Intensive Needs Behavior Interventionists’ (INBIs) collection, maintenance, and filing of on-going data required for progress monitoring and billing (E.g. ABC sheets, daily data, work samples, etc.).
  • Model for and observe INBI’s implementation of IEP accommodations, PBSP interventions, and individualized programing instructional strategies.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support for INBIs, including training of newly hired INBIs and internal cross training.
  • Facilitate and supervise small group periods of skill development and practice (i.e.: play-based blocks, social skills groups, sensory and regulation practice, daily living skills).
