Description Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp. Minneapolis, Minnesota Position: Pole Winder - 1st Shift Team: Winding Primary Objective of Position: A Pole Winder will set up, mount and insulate various wind jobs. Major Areas of Accountability: Set up winding machine, mount conductor on dereeler, clamp, cut, fit and apply insulation as necessary. Wind jobs such as one piece rotors and all sizes of field coils on fixtures or on poles up to the capacity of the winding machines. Record weights on field poles. Read prints & winding specifications. Do layer, random and step windings, assemble fabricated and wound coils onto poles applying resin when required. Apply epoxy to winding layers. Set up and operate various blanking presses for field straps such as trimming, notching, piercing vent holes, mashing and coining corners and straightening. Set up and operate automatic bonding machine to fuse flat copper sections into assembled coil and coil connectors, including pole cross oversee, set up to include adjusting various settings for individual copper. Operate portable TIG welder to make minor repairs and coil leads when required. Paint poles per process specs when required. Set and operate ovens per specifications. Works in other areas of the Winding Team skills matrix, may perform duties in the Winding Team skills matrix such as coil taping, coil manufacturing, VPI, and armature winding. Demonstrates a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day to day work. Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA regulations. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: High School degree (preferred) with a 1 year of manufacturing experience (preferred). Ability to be certified in overhead crane, Jib crane and forklift operation. Must be able to read prints and winding specifications. Physical Requirements: Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs. Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs. Routinely ascends/descends ladders and stairs. Occasionally works at heights or on platforms. Occasionally positions self in various works spaces, including low, tight or confined spaces. Routinely remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Routinely uses repetitive motions including the wrists, hands or fingers to operate machinery or tools. Routinely moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks. Skills Matrix: The Pole Winder position is part of the Winding Team skills Matrix. This position works as a team member utilizing and performing to the Winding Team skills matrix, which outlines the comprehensive skills in the Winding Team. Salary: 1st shift salary range $20.00 hourly to $24.00 hourly Will compensate with experience. Position is full-time. Pay Types Voluntary weekend overtime. Saturday is paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time!
