Pay Range: $18/hr. These are paid, PART-TIME, non-civil service positions designed to provide persons interested in a future career as a Law Enforcement officer the opportunity to work in the law enforcement environment. Cadets perform a wide variety of public safety-related duties in support of the Police Department. These positions offer flexible working hours typically between 7:00am to 5:00pm. Requirements: Applicants will be required to pass a physical fitness assessment prior to employment. This test will include: 1.5 mile run in 17:51 minutes or less, 22 or more sit-ups in 1 minute, 11 or more push-ups: no time frame but cannot break plank form, and 500 meters on a rowing machine in 2:27 or less minutes on a damper setting of 5 Work hours will be limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week. Qualifications: HS diploma/GED. Must be currently enrolled in a college/university or possess ability to enroll in a college/university while in the program. must be 18-32 years of age. Possession of a valid Texas Driver's license required. Resume Required. Letter(s) of recommendation are highly encouraged. Benefits and Pay: Salary is $18.00 hourly. Partial Tuition Reimbursement for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (up to $1,500 per year, after 6 months' probation period). Uniforms will be provided.
