Description
The City of Gilroy is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to lead its well-regarded Police Department. The new Chief must have a strong record of community engagement and understand the need for transparency and the value of sharing information with the community. The Chief must be approachable, visible in the community, and have the ability to reach out to and connect with all members and groups in the community. The Chief must be open to innovative ideas and experienced at developing relationships in a team environment. The minimum requirements for this position are a bachelor's degree in public administration or closely related field, three (3) years as a supervising law enforcement officer at the level of Division Commander or above, and possession of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Management Certificate. A master’s degree in public administration and completion certificates from the FBI National Academy or POST Command College are desirable. The annual salary range is $198,714 to $272,944 DOQE.
