Description CLASSIFICATION TITLE: FT SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION: The purpose of this classification is to provide quality police services in compliance with state mandates and department policies, procedures, and work rules. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conducts investigations within the assigned schools; provides law enforcement services and functions as necessary or assigned, which may include supplemental patrol duties during summer months. Enforces the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the City of Madisonville ordinances while utilizing the appropriate discretion. Organizes and implements the NASRO/KASRO or similar approved programs; implements and promotes crime prevention, victim/witness, and departmental programs as appropriate within the school and community. Completes and submits required reports, forms, and other correspondence. Performs duties under stressful, unusual, or emergency conditions and exercises considerable discretion., Assists with conducting a formal school safety and security audit as directed by State law. Performs general safety and security assessments daily during the school year. Serves as a law enforcement representative on appropriate school committees; attends and participates in PTA, student, staff, and faculty meetings. Serves as a liaison between the school and this or other law enforcement agencies. Assist with staffing the Operations Division and school crossings as necessary. Serves on city, department, or regional committees as assigned, exercises responsibility for the operation, care, and maintenance of assigned equipment. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED Must be a Retired Police Officer (in good standing), and have been previously certified by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council Must meet requirements as set forth by KLEC and the City of Madisonville Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license
