The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Senior Secondary Certificate Reform Division fixed term full-time position until 30 June 2026.

  • Salary: $95,102 - $107,905 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Usual work location: East Melbourne (flexible work conditions are available)
Responsibilities

THIS IS A FIXED TERM FULL TIME ROLE TILL 30/06/2026.

The Policy Advisor will play an important role in contributing to the design, development and implementation of new and existing policies and programs that support vocational and applied learning pathways within senior secondary education.

The successful candidate will work with colleagues in the VCAA and DE and will contribute to strategic policy projects at every stage of the policy cycle. This includes:

  • research;
  • analysis;
  • stakeholder engagement and consultation;
  • development of policy options; and
  • the preparation of papers, briefings and reports.

    About the division
    SSCRD are leading and implementing generational reform to Victoria’s senior secondary certification in response to the 2020 Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling. The reforms are supporting all Victorian secondary students to access engaging curriculum where they can connect their learning to real-life and workplace experiences.
    The introduction of the VCE Vocational Major (VM) and the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) in 2023 supports students to pursue high-quality and valued vocational and applied learning pathways aligned to their strengths and interests and to finish schooling with the skills and capabilities they need for success in further education, training, work, and life.
