Policy Adviser – Energy and Climate - Office of the Hon Penny Sharpe MLC, Minister for Climate Change, Minister for Energy, Minister for Environment, Minister for Heritage Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council About the Role We are seeking a motivated and politically astute Policy Advisor to provide advice on key energy and climate policy areas within a fast-paced Ministerial office. This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of government, shaping policy that delivers real impact. In this varied and high-impact role, you will provide strategic policy advice and engage with stakeholders across critical areas, with a focus on consumer energy and/or climate policy. You will act as a key liaison with the Department and play a central role in progressing policy reform and delivery. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic policy advice and support directly to the Minister Liaise with the Department on policy reform and program development Build and maintain strong relationships with industry, community and other stakeholders Support parliamentary processes, including legislation and debates Prepare high-quality briefings, speeches, and correspondence Provide input and support on media About You Strong understanding of energy and/or climate change policy (ideally consumer energy) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including speech writing Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment Highly organised, proactive, and solutions-focused Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills Team player, working collegiately with close-knit team Experience in government, the public service and/or politics will be looked upon favourably Why Join Us?
