Be part of a team working on complex high priority projects Important work that makes a difference in the lives of vulnerable New Zealanders Permanent Wellington Based Position Midpoint of $86,862 dependent on experience Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do The Family and Community policy team works on a range of complex areas across the health system and wider social system. High priority areas that the team is currently working on include: the health of older people and the aged care system the Government’s response to the Royal Commission into abuse in care and faith-based institutions how the health system responds to the needs of children and young people in care and youth justice settings how the health system supports child protection, and issues related to family violence and sexual violence. As a Policy Analyst, you’ll be part of a team that delivers high-quality, evidence-based advice to improve health outcomes. This will include gathering and analysing information to inform policy analysis, developing and applying your analytical skills to understand policy issues, and developing policy documents including Aide Memoires and briefings that provide advice to senior managers and Ministers. To do this you will need to build and leverage strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders within the Ministry and other agencies. Ko pūkenga - What you’ll bring For this role you will need to have: A tertiary qualification in a health, policy or a relevant field and/or equivalent experience An understanding of public policy, government processes, and structures An analytical mindset with the ability to ask probing questions to uncover underlying information Strong relationship-building skills and experience working with stakeholders Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Applicants with previous experience working in policy preferred.
