Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Strategic Services Division within the Ministry of SCSS is seeking a skilled and driven Policy Analyst to join the team! This position plays a crucial role in supporting key priority policy initiatives and provides valuable analytical insights to inform strategic decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate policy research activities including scanning, applied research, cross-divisional/cross-ministry information gathering, and synthesis/analysis.
  • Provide policy analysis and advice as it relates to program policy.
  • Policy Framing - Provides advice and analysis on policy issues, incorporating input from various departments to assess opportunities, risks, costs, benefits, and implementation implications.
  • Policy Review/Development - Provides support on policy projects, including reviewing policies, developing materials, preparing briefings, participating in committees, assisting with project planning, drafting proposals, and tracking project progress.
  • Policy Capacity and Coordination - Provides input and advice on proposed changes to programs, delivers accurate information on policy issues, and prepares briefing materials for senior management.
  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective policy development and implementation.
