The Energy Transition Division leads policy development for Alberta’s energy transition, tackling economic and policy barriers to new energy investments. The division strategically engages with stakeholders, including the energy and minerals industry, the Federal Government, and other provinces, to support Alberta’s goal of reducing emissions and achieving net-zero by 2050. Key responsibilities include providing secretariat and strategic support to negotiation tables, sub-tables, and internal committees, facilitating discussions on policy priorities and timelines to achieve a carbon-neutral economy and economic prosperity by 2050. The division is also responsible for nuclear policy and implementing the critical minerals strategy and action plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
University graduation in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science or in a related field (e.g.: Arts, Environmental Science, Commerce, Engineering, Law) and 2 years of related experience is required. Related experience can include research and analysis, policy interpretation and analysis, stakeholder engagement, technical writing and briefing, issues analysis, and project coordination in the Energy Industry.

The Business Relationships and Implementation (BRI) team is currently seeking an agile and driven Policy Analyst to manage and support key initiatives including policy development around emerging resources, stakeholder relationships, and leveraging expert level knowledge of business intelligence and analysis.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Relationships and Implementation, the Policy Analyst is responsible for the following:
Data Management and Analysis: Support data management by developing and maintaining of BRI’s internal systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, SharePoint), analyze and organize energy sector information for strategic insights, and communicate findings effectively through dynamic data visualizations and information products for diverse partners to support strategic decision making.
Stakeholder Engagement Support: Contribute to Alberta’s energy transition by supporting strategic engagement with energy stakeholders such as subject matter experts across Alberta Energy and Minerals, other departments, and agencies.
Issue Analysis and Advisory: Assess and prioritize issues, conduct thorough research, coordinate information, and render accurate advice to Branch Leadership on existing and emerging issues.
Briefing and Reporting: Prepare reports, recommendations, briefing materials, and make presentations to internal and/or external stakeholders for information and/or decisions on emerging energy trends and opportunities. Synthesize and translate critical information for policy and informational use.
You will apply strong problem-solving skills across several key areas, including policy development, where you will evaluate and interpret relevant legislation to propose practical and informed solutions. You will also support public sector and intergovernmental relations by facilitating collaboration and the exchange of information across ministries and levels of government
