We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Corporate Services team. The policy analyst position reports to the Policy Manager and is responsible for developing and implementing policy options as well as leading and managing policy development projects through the approvals process. The position also has the opportunity to lead or participate in inter-departmental committees in areas of interest to the department, which can provide various networking opportunities. The position is also exposed to the day-to day workings of Yukon government while supporting the Minister and senior management in the department. Our policy analysts are strategic individuals with critical thinking skills who can analyze a broad variety of policy projects and make well-thought-out recommendations. The selected candidate will provide recommendations on complex issues, draft decision-making documents and develop policy in a collaborative setting.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A post-secondary degree in public policy, public administration, political science, social sciences or a related field;
  • Experience researching, analyzing, developing and evaluating policy options, ideally within a government context;
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations to senior management;
  • Experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience planning, leading and/or facilitating large projects would be considered an asset;

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
