Description

The Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus Office is looking for a full-time Policy and Research Analyst to help shape and advance the policy priorities of our caucus members. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with Nova Scotia Liberal Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to advocate for pragmatic, progressive policies that will impact generations to come.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A strong interest in, and knowledge of, Nova Scotia politics
  • Experience conducting research and presenting ideas clearly and concisely
  • Strong communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, analyze, and propose legislation and policy initiatives for the Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus Office
  • Work with MLAs to support local policy objectives, resolutions and petitions
  • Support MLAs during legislative sessions by coordinating a legislative calendar and drafting questions for question period
  • Manage caucus participation in legislative committees
  • Assist communications staff with speechwriting and speaking notes on bills
  • Conduct research and prepare briefing notes, reports, and policy recommendations for MLAs
  • Meet with stakeholders to discuss policy and advocacy
  • Identify communication opportunities for policies
  • Other duties as required
