    The Department of Justice and Community Safety, Office of the Associate Secretary, is seeking a Policy Officer to provide a critical role within the Operational Performance and Cultural Reform team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A qualification in a related area is desirable, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Policy Officer is responsible for supporting the development and coordination of policy and project products relating to strategic initiatives across the department and broader justice system, through the provision of analysis and identification of key insights. You will work collaboratively with other members of the team to help coordinate the delivery of a suite of reforms designed to support continuous improvement and efficient delivery of the department’s core functions.
The Policy Officer will support the identification and implementation of tools and methods for measuring outputs and outcomes of reform and improvement initiatives and provide analysis of business impact.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Contribute to strategic policy work to provide advice and support to DJCS executives on the operational performance of the department and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide impact analyses and reports on the outputs and outcomes of policy decisions and department improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare content for well-informed, accurate and timely briefings, advice, project management reports, correspondence and documentation for departmental executives.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Deriving insights from data: Demonstrated ability to analyse data, including processing basic datasets and extracting key insights to inform recommendations.
  • Data presentation: Ability to generate descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisations to support decision-making. Experience using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint or PowerBI to present data visualisation is highly desirable
