JOB SUMMARY

At Ofgem, we’re on the frontline of the fight against climate change, driving bold action to transform the UK’s energy system for a Net Zero future. We’re looking for a Policy Officer to join us and help shape the future of carbon capture and storage (CCS) infrastructure in the UK.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
We’re offering a permanent opportunity where you’ll play a vital role in one of the most exciting and emerging areas of the energy transition. This is your chance to contribute to the UK’s climate goals and be part of the growing field of CCS, enabling secure, efficient and consumer-focused delivery of CCS infrastructure.
You’ll work within a collaborative team of experts at the heart of energy policy, engaging with stakeholders and working closely with licencees to help bring forward vital infrastructure. This is an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the inner workings of a regulator, deepen your policy expertise and work on projects that will directly support the UK’s decarbonisation journey.
We’re looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to balance evidence, priorities and perspectives. You’ll be an excellent communicator who works well with others, brings a technical or policy background, and is enthusiastic about contributing to meaningful change.
What’s more, you’ll be enabled to grow your career in an organisation that values inclusion, flexibility and wellbeing. At Ofgem, we support each other to thrive through hybrid working, generous leave, a highly regarded pension scheme, and a workplace culture that celebrates authenticity and teamwork.
We have a critical purpose to enable the delivery of Carbon Capture and Storage infrastructure, a key component of the UK’s climate strategy. This is your chance to play a vital role in building a greener, more secure energy system for generations to come.
