      Policy Planner to help shape environment policy and planning outcomes Hybrid role with flexible working options based in Auckland Central Salary will be $88,528 to $104,150 plus 3.5% KiwiSaver contribution     He angitūtanga: The opportunity:   The Planning and Resource Consents department shapes policy and planning outcomes across Auckland’s urban, rural, and coastal environments. With the government’s signalled RMA reforms, the gazetting of 21 new and amended national directions and the forthcoming review of the Auckland Unitary Plan there are both significant challenges and opportunities ahead.   The Central South Planning unit works on shaping policy and planning outcomes in an area which extends from Auckland’s city centre, through the Auckland isthmus to the fast-growing southern part of the Auckland region. As a Policy Planner in the Central South unit, you will:   Manage the assessment and reporting on private plan changes and notices of requirement Provide high quality planning and place-making advice to elected members, mana whenua, communities, and other internal and external stakeholders Participate in the development of council plan changes and variations Evaluate and monitor the Auckland Unitary Plan as part of full policy cycle planning Support the development of spatial plans by working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.   You can view a copy of the Position Description here     He kōrero mōu: About you:   This role will require a strong focus on dealing with complex planning issues and on continuous improvement. With a passion for policy, statutory and spatial planning we are looking for a policy planner who has:   A degree qualification or higher and at least two to three years’ experience in planning and resource management A sound understanding of the Resource Management Act  Statutory planning background and preferably experience in either preparing or reporting on plan changes or notices of requirement Strong relationship building skills and customer service A high standard of written and oral communication skills An appreciation of te ao Māori and experience with council’s responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi Good time management and the ability to work in an at times fast paced environment   Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer:   Auckland Council is one of the largest local authorities in the South Pacific providing essential services and facilities to more than 1.7 million people.
