Position Overview Department: Sleep Center Schedule: Three 12 hour shifts. 6:00PM - 6:30AM Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more What You Will Do Perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies. Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures. Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies. Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required. Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Responsibilities
The technologist will perform basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies, which includes preparing patients and equipment, interviewing patients about sleep disorders, and monitoring them throughout the testing process. Responsibilities also involve collecting, analyzing, integrating patient information, and scoring, interpreting, and reporting the results of sleep studies.
