Description Are you responsible, attentive, and enjoy being active outdoors? As a Seasonal Pool Lifeguard, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons at Big Blue Bay Swimming Pool. You’ll monitor pool activity, enforce safety rules, respond quickly to emergencies, and provide first aid or lifesaving treatment when necessary. In addition to safety duties, you’ll assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the pool facility, equipment, and grounds, and help prepare the pool for swim lessons, programs, and events. This position involves working various hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, offering a dynamic, rewarding seasonal opportunity in a fun recreational environment. Requirements We’re looking for dependable, alert individuals who can respond quickly in emergencies, work well with the public, and take pride in maintaining a safe and clean facility. To be successful in this role, you should: Be responsible, professional, and attentive at all times Work effectively with children, adults, and coworkers Be able to follow established routines, rules, and safety procedures Communicate clearly with supervisors, staff, and pool patrons Perform physical labor, including lifting, walking, standing for extended periods, and performing custodial tasks Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Working knowledge of first aid and lifesaving procedures Ability to read and follow instructions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Willingness to assume responsibility and act decisively in emergencies Ability to operate cash registers, pool chemicals, lifesaving devices, and janitorial equipment Typical duties may include (but are not limited to): Monitoring swimmers and enforcing pool rules to prevent accidents Responding quickly to emergencies and providing first aid or lifesaving treatment Assisting with swim lesson instruction and program support Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining pool equipment and facilities Performing custodial tasks including cleaning locker rooms, pool decks, restrooms, and other pool areas Collecting and disposing of litter and maintaining overall facility cleanliness Setting up and taking down equipment for swim programs, meets, and special events Preparing simple records for cash receipts and attendance Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, CPR, and First Aid certification by date of appointment Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Maintain a positive, professional, friendly, and courteous manner with the public Tools and Equipment Used: Cash register, pool chemicals, janitorial equipment, and lifesaving devices
