Description
Performs all approved laboratory procedures in assigned licensure specialties, as required to meet workload demands. Works under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist II or III. Essential Functions Complete proficiency testing samples within the requested timeframe. Demonstrate competency in using the LIS and HIS computer systems. Ensure adequate supplies are available and promptly notify the supervisor when supplies are low. Assess situations from multiple perspectives, consider alternatives, and choose appropriate actions. Maintain a high level of accuracy with no more than 6 minor errors per year. Perform testing within defined turn-around-time parameters for STAT, timed, and routine testing. Assist in solving problems encountered by Technicians and Phlebotomists. Complete all work during the shift without sacrificing quality of care and leave minimal work for the next shift. Notify the Nursing Supervisor and floors of instrument and LIS downtime. Document all quality control, calibrations, maintenance, test and order comments, and reagent information accurately and timely. Education Associate's Degree Medical Technology or Bachelors Biology or Chemistry License Clinical Lab Technologist Certification American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) Work Experience Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician. New graduates accepted at the discretion of the Director.
