NPL is currently seeking an experienced Specialist Trainer – Trade Training, Metal Fabrication and Welding to join our Employee Development team within the Human Resources & Employment Development Department. This role will play a critical part in delivering trade training programs and maintaining trade competency standards across the operation. About the Role: The Specialist Trainer – Trade Training, is responsible for designing, delivering and assessing trade training programs for Metal fabrication and welding trades, ensuring employees and trainees meet statutory, safety and operational competency requirements. The role supports workforce capability development by delivering practical and classroom-based training, maintaining training matrices, and conducting Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments for high-risk and trade-related activities across site. Key Responsibilities: Deliver Trade Training Programs in metal fabrication and welding aligned to site and industry standards Develop, implement and maintain training plans and training matrices Plan, schedule and deliver classroom and practical training sessions Develop and review training materials, lesson plans and assessment tools Deliver statutory, safety and compliance-based training relevant to trade activities Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments for high-risk and trade-related work Provide technical input into reviewing and updating trade and high-risk work training materials Complete training reports, assessment documentation and review participant feedback Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all NPL Health & Safety policies and procedures About You – Essential Requirements Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Recognised Diploma or Trade Qualification in Metal Fabrication and Welding Extensive hands-on experience as a fabricator, welder and boiler maker within the mining or heavy industrial sector Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering training and competency-based assessments Proficiency in operating welding equipment and related machinery. Welding proficiency, blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and finishing processes.
