The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Technician – Metallurgy (238867) About the role Reporting to the Metallurgy Laboratory Supervisor, the successful candidate will undertake routine and non-routine work in the metallurgical plant laboratory and ensure the test work is completed with high standards and in a timely manner In this role, you will: Ensure plant checks and monitoring related to cyanide and pH compliance are maintained including routine maintenance and operational checks for online instruments Conduct plant checks and participate in all routine metallurgical tasks, plant surveys, sampling, inventory stock take and test work programs Support Plant Mets and Met Lab Supervisor to carry out routine plant checks as well as involve fully to assist with plant troubleshooting when issues arise Follow up on results with Assay Lab and ensure all plant and test data entries are updated and reported on time. This includes calibration data for online instruments Ensure all tasks are done accurately and the relevant SOPs are followed correctly Promote environmentally sound work practices among peers and contractors and ensure all environmental requirements are complied with and maintained Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures. About You; To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences: Tertiary qualifications with a Degree in Metallurgy A recent graduate after 2019 with 2 to 3 years work experience is preferred however, any previous experience in the Metallurgy laboratory will be an advantage. Sound communication skills and computer literacy in Windows applications (MS Word, Excel and Outlook) Be highly self-motivated and willing to learn and train, share and pass on knowledge to others The incumbent must be a team player, be highly organized and able to perform multiple tasks, paying attention to detail and meeting deadlines Physically fit, can work long shifts when required and willing to be on a fly in fly out roster. Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly in Processing plant Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. Proficient in using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Mobilization Requirement This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
