We are seeking a dynamic Port and Cargo Operations Manager, responsible for executing cargo and port operations at designated ports in Queensland. This role ensures compliance with internal and external policies, guidelines, and regulations, while prioritizing safety, quality, and sustainability in every activity. You will manage supplier relationships, maintain a professional network with authorities, and deliver operational excellence. Job Description Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Drive a culture aligned with corporate governance, values, and fiduciary duties. Ensure uncompromising safety compliance across all operations, including suppliers and contractors. Manage supplier contracts and ensure adherence to standards and policies. Coordinate information flow and follow-up with stakeholders and vessels. Stay current with regulatory requirements and ensure compliance. Act as backup for other ports and attend vessel operations as directed, including receival and delivery activities. Vessel & Terminal Operations Lead pre-operation briefings and ramp meetings per WW Ocean Cargo Handling Instructions. Supervise cargo operations in close collaboration with stow planners, vessel C/O, and stevedores. Maximize vessel and equipment utilization while maintaining quality standards. Report incidents and damages promptly. Drive quality, efficiency, and cost-saving initiatives with stevedores. Oversee biosecurity compliance and manage infestations or contaminated cargo. Stakeholder Engagement Facilitate effective communication from pre-planning to post-operation feedback. Maintain regular updates with line manager and stakeholders. Build and maintain strong networks with suppliers, authorities, and agents. Job Requirements What You’ll Bring Maritime or technical background with strong knowledge of ocean and terminal logistics. In-depth understanding of RoRo vessels, stowage plans, and ship stability principles. Hands-on experience with automotive, RoRo, and break-bulk cargo handling. Maritime navigational qualification and/or relevant experience. Practical experience on RoRo/PCTC vessels and port cargo handling. Knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements and supplier interface management. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
