Job Details Job Location: Maintenance Shop - St. Louis, MO 63121 Overview: Beyond Housing is a nationally recognized community development organization dedicated to strengthening families and transforming our under-resourced communities to create a stronger, more equitable, and prosperous St. Louis, once and for all. Position: The Porter will support the maintenance team in a wide variety of skilled and unskilled tasks relating to the repair and upkeep of Wellington Family Homes, a recent 55 million dollar rehab of 186 scattered-site homes and apartments located in Wellston, MO. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Monitor and maintain light custodial tasks and groundskeeping throughout the property, ensuring grounds are litter-free. Perform light maintenance duties, including installing light bulbs, repairing window blinds, performing semiannual pest control, painting interior/exterior, and removing debris. Assist with unit preparation for occupancy. Basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Experience and Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required 2 years’ experience in rental maintenance and/or similar field required An above-average knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems Ability to carry out other tasks, perform physical labor, operate tools and machinery, and lift at least 80 lbs. Ability to work in wet, damp, hot, cold, or dusty places Ability to stoop or kneel to gain access to work areas Ability to work while standing for extended periods of time Ability to communicate professionally with tenants Must respond to 24-hour maintenance emergencies during evening, weekend, and holiday hours. The schedule is based on a department rotation Must have a valid Class E license and valid insurance.
