Description
Under general supervision, the porter's responsibilities include: transporting patients to and from various wards and departments; assisting with patient lifts and transfers; assisting patients in and out of wheelchairs; delivery of food wagons and late trays to clinical units; delivery of specimens, equipment, documents and supplies; movement of heavy equipment and supplies; operation of power equipment; responding to all Codes and assisting as required; and other duties as assigned. Functions according to the job description for this position. 1. Grade 12 (preferred) 2. Oral and written English ability 3. Ability to identify and respond to priorities 4. Ability to understand and follow directions 5. Ability to adjust to handling of highs and lows in providing services 6. Good interpersonal and communication skills 7. Ability to operate tow motor, where applicable 8. Ability to operate delivery equipment 9. Ability to push, pull and lift heavy equipment and stand constantly 10. Ability to lift 25 pounds (linen) 11. Ability to move patients
